CredX is a new system designed to monitor, record and reward physical activity.
What does Credx do?
- Whether people are walking, cycling or playing football CredX records this physical activity through an online system.
- The target population can then be appropriately rewarded with appropriate incentives to increase their activity levels.
How does Credx work?
Using the latest mobile phone technology, known as Near Field Communication (NFC), the system is able to record online where and how people have exercised by keeping a personal record of their activity.
- Users are issued with personalised cards
- They are automatically registered onto a system with a personal code which monitors their activity and records their points
- To accrue points, they must touch their card onto a receiver:
- The receivers can either be standalone such as at the beginning and end of an agreed walking route or by the entrance to a tennis court; or they can be held by those organising the activity such as walk leaders or sports teachers - If on a walk, the activity is recorded online when the person touches in at each receiver, and these transactions are converted to points which can then be exchanged for rewards.
- If it’s an organised activity such as a football match, the user is given a set number of points for that activity.
