Intelligent Health recently had the privilege of co-hosting the Healthier UK Parliamentary Reception at the House of Commons, sponsored by Simon Opher MP. The event brought together health champions, local leaders, and sector partners to discuss the future of community health and population wellbeing in the UK.

Speaking at the reception, Intelligent Health CEO and Healthier UK Co-chair, Dr. William Bird MBE, delivered a message that resonated strongly across the room:

“We must stop simply managing decline and start actively creating health.”

True health extends far beyond the absence of disease; it is built upon fundamental human needs like feeling safe, feeling valued, and experiencing a genuine sense of belonging. When these core conditions are missing, the resulting chronic stress creates a direct biological barrier to long-term health and cellular repair.

To reverse current health trajectories, national strategy must evolve from asking for “Health in All Policies” to establishing “All Policies in Health.” Sustainable health creation cannot remain the sole responsibility of the NHS. Instead, it must be treated as a core national priority embedded across every area of public policy, including housing, education, transport, and environmental design.

Healthier UK is an action-focused coalition dedicated to delivering a cross-government strategy while supporting bottom-up community initiatives. The movement has set an ambitious timeline of 455 days to align collective efforts, share evidence, and scale practical solutions that help communities thrive.

Intelligent Health is proud to stand alongside a consortium of leading partner organisations driving this work forward, including The College of Medicine, The Health Creation Alliance, The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine, Sport England, Natural England, Active Travel England, Arts Council England, Historic England, and Homes England.

This place-based model is backed by robust data from our flagship programme, Beat the Street, which has now been delivered in over 200 places, reaching 2.1 million participants. Independent economic evaluations show that Beat the Street delivers measurable health outcomes at £2,565 per QALY (Quality-Adjusted Life Year), making it around six times more cost-effective than marginal NHS intervention spending.
