Intelligent Health is proud to announce the launch of a suite of policy postcards designed to showcase the powerful benefits of nature in addressing some of society’s most pressing health and wellbeing challenges. Recognising the profound impact that access to nature can have on both population and planetary health, these postcards aim to provide policymakers with evidence based solutions that align with the UK Government’s key missions for rebuilding Britain.

The postcards are directly informed by Labour’s five missions to rebuild Britain, providing a unique resource for policymakers to help achieve national goals while advancing public health, equity, and sustainability. They underscore the significant contributions that nature based solutions can make towards Labour’s mission to:

  1. Build an NHS fit for the future
  2. Kickstart economic growth
  3. Break down barriers to opportunity
  4. Make Britain a clean energy superpower

In a direct effort to reach those shaping policy, the postcards have been shared in person with Baroness Hayman, Parliamentary Under-Secretary in the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, as well as sent to Secretaries of State and relevant Ministers across multiple government departments.

 Departments Engaged and Issues Addressed

Our postcards provide recommendations and guidance relevant to departments working across health, community development, education, environmental sustainability, economic resilience, and energy security. Specifically, we have identified the following areas of policy impact:

Department of Health & Social Care

Addressing the rising tide of non-communicable diseases by promoting nature’s role in preventing type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and improving mental health.

Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government

Building healthier, more cohesive communities that tackle health inequalities.

 Department for Education

Recognising nature as a catalyst for academic attainment and children’s wellbeing.

Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs

Creating a sustainable future with climate resilient policies.

Department for Work & Pensions

Reducing long-term sickness and enabling greater economic productivity.

Department for Energy Security & Net Zero

Enhancing climate resilience through access to nature and net zero solutions.

 His Majesty’s Treasury

Demonstrating cost savings for healthcare, emphasising the value of preventative health.

At Intelligent Health, we believe in the necessity of cross-government collaboration to unlock the vast, untapped benefits of nature for the people of the UK. By providing clear evidence and recommendations, our postcards seek to inspire government action and support policymakers in implementing nature based solutions that foster economic growth, health, education, and environmental security.

Full details, including in-depth evidence and policy references, are available within each postcard. To view the complete suite, please follow the below link to access the postcards and explore how nature can drive meaningful change in line with the government’s vision for Britain’s future.
