Intelligent Health and Sport in Mind go head-to-head for RED January in a fun filled physical activity challenge for their staff. From Thursday 26 January, the final week of taking part in RED January, the two organisations are ramping up the heat and encouraging their team to take part.

During the challenge, staff will have access to a brand-new beta version of the Beat the Street App developed by Intelligent Health. Virtual Beat Boxes will be located around the local areas of the two Reading based organisations to gain points as employees take part in different forms of physical activity, whether it be walking, cycling, or running during their working day, for commuting and for leisure.

RED January is a nationwide movement empowering people across the country to get active every day to improve mental wellbeing and raise funds to help Sport in Mind reach and support others through sport and physical activity. Intelligent Health will be donating £1,500 to the charity and will continue to work together to support the vital work Sport in Mind do.

Katherine Knight, Director at Intelligent Health said: “We are thrilled to be working with Sport in Mind to support both our organisations’ staff in a winter Beat the Street App challenge. January can be a difficult month for everybody, but it can be particularly overwhelming for those who struggle with their mental health. Research has shown the positive impact physical activity and getting outdoors has on our mental health and we are committed to support people to do this. That’s why we are working together with experts like Sport in Mind to create long lasting impact on mental and physical wellbeing for whole communities.

“We are delighted to be taking part in this fun challenge together with Sport in Mind, a little bit of healthy competition does wonders in getting people moving – let the game begin!”

Neil Harris, CEO at Sport in Mind said: “Being a Reading formed charity, Sport in Mind is aware of the fantastic Beat the Street programmes that Intelligent Health have run so successfully across the country for so many years to motivate people to get active and help improve their mental and physical health. As a charity, we are really excited to take part in the Beat the Street App challenge with Intelligent Health and hope our participation in the game will inspire many others to do likewise going forward. We look forward to this exciting challenge and working with Intelligent Health more in 2023.”
