Beat the Street reaches two million
Beat the Street has reached an incredible milestone: two million people have now played the game.
That’s two million who’ve stepped outside, explored their local areas, connected with others, and experienced the simple joy of movement.
Sports Minister, Stephanie Peacock MP, joined us for a recent game in Barnsley.
“Beat the Street is a brilliant initiative which aims to help people across the country get moving,” she said.
“I’ve heard from schools locally about the huge difference it’s made to get young people and families more active.
This Government is committed to ensuring that people of all ages can feel the benefits of physical activity, including improving wellbeing and creating stronger community connections.”
What started as a local idea back in 2011 with mobile phones in wooden boxes has grown into one of the UK’s most successful public health initiatives. Delivered in over 200 places, Beat the Street has turned towns into playgrounds, neighbourhoods into teams, and walking into something exciting.
But this milestone isn’t just about numbers. It’s about the people and places who have made every step count. Read the Beat the Street article below to find out more!

New leadership programme on its way thanks to new partnership
We’re delighted to announce that we’re partnering with Clare E Kenny to deliver a new leadership programme.
This programme is designed to equip leaders with the mindset, skills, and confidence to build healthy, high-performing teams – no matter how uncertain or fast-changing the world of work becomes. Our Roots Masterclasses focus on the root causes of poor wellbeing enabling employees to thrive.
Clare is a Tedx speaker and a leading voice in leadership, culture, neuro-inclusion and wellbeing. She has helped organisations, ranging from FTSE 100s to dynamic startups, build healthier, more inclusive workplace cultures where people can truly thrive.
“I’m really excited to be partnering with Intelligent Health and Roots Health Academy, combining their deep expertise in the science and medical aspects of physical and mental health with my experience in leadership and workplace culture, particularly within global organisations,” said Clare.
“Together, we’re developing a leadership programme that’s grounded, practical, and designed for the realities of today’s working world. I can’t wait to get stuck in!
Breakfast meeting outlines how to navigate today’s workplace
With expectations rising, resources stretched and pressure mounting, it’s easy to find ourselves supporting others while running on empty.
We hosted a breakfast event all about changing that, and exploring what it really takes to lead, perform, and sustain energy in this high-demand world.
The 1 July event in London was part of our Roots Health Academy Programme and the speakers included Luke Robinson who shared how elite teams perform under pressure without burning out, and
Clare E Kenny, who spoke about building thriving, human-centered workplaces.
There were also sessions from Dr Michael Dixon, Head of the Royal Medical Household and co-chair of College of Medicine and Integrated Health, as well as our vey own Dr William Bird MBE, who spoke about the science of peak performance and sustainable wellbeing.
In the audience were employee wellbeing leaders from a broad range of businesses including Chelsea Football Club, McDonald’s, Standard Chartered Bank and Deloitte, amongst others
